If you’re not a gamer, then these packages are the one’s you will want to choose from. They have more options and the packages are cheaper.
Maximizing Your Love Film Free Trial
Ok, so up until now we’ve just looked at the packages available. If you’re a ps3 user you can get some great use from the free trial and also the subscription packages, should you wish to continue with them after the love film free trial finishes.
The first thing to understand is that whichever package you choose in your free trial period, you get for free – sounds obvious doesn’t it! There’s not much point trialing the starter kit package, if you can get the Ultimate package for free, right? So, you may as well choose the Ultimate £19.39 per month package to start your trial. And here’s why….
As a ps3 user, the best way to use this package is to use your unlimited disc allowance to rent games by post, and use your unlimited steaming allowance to enjoy the movies. This way you get to audition as many games as possible within this time frame. It’s a big money saver. This was a major benefit raised by many people in the forums discussing love film offers. I know from personal experience, I’ve bought games only to be disappointed, and then never play them again, so this way you can audition the games before you buy, and you’ll know that your money is going to be well spent.
Things to look out for
Turnaround Time: Lovefilm will not send out new discs until they’ve got back the ones you have already watched. So, for example if you were trialing the Ultimate Package as described above, you would have to return your 3 discs as soon as you had auditioned them.
Apparently, according to users,the general turnaround time for Love film to send new discs out to you, is about 48 hours. So realistically you may only be able to do this about 10 times in the free trial period, but that’s still 30+ games you can audition in a month.
Cancelling your subscription: If you’re happy with the service and your package, then you obviously don’t have to do anything. However, it’s important to note that if you don’t want to continue with the service after the free trial, or you want to cancel and re-consider before you join, you still have to cancel the current subscription that you chose when you took out the free trial offer.
You can’t change your subscription mid free trial either as you will lose the remainder of your free trial will be billed early.
One more important caveat: make sure that you have returned any outstanding discs to Lovefilm before the end of the free trial period. If they physically haven’t received any outstanding discs from you before your trial ends, then they will be unable to cancel your subscription and you will be charged for the following month.
So remember to allow enough time for your discs to reach them before the end of your love film free trial.
In other words allow at least 5-6 days for your last outstanding discs to reach lovefilm to be on the safe side – First class post still applies in the free trial period, by the way.
Account Holidays: One useful feature that existing lovefilm users seemed happy with, was that you can take a break from your love film account if you are on holiday for example, and you will not be charged. You can take two breaks a year, and each period can be up to 90 days, which I thought was suprisingly generous.
